Keren Peles was born in Yavniel near the Kineret (Sea Of Galilee) on the 11th of March 1979 and has a younger sister and brother. Keren started learning to play the piano when she was 6 years old. Later on at the first grade she quit the studies, but because she liked music she kept on practicing and improved her playing skills on her own.
In the fifth grade she even started playing the side flute and played in the children band of Yavniel. Continuing her music development she also ended up as the vocalist of the Yarden Valleys musical band. When Keren grew older she enjoyed writing lyrics for the school songs and at the breaks she had fun with her friends while swimming in the Kineret.
When it was time for Keren Peles to enter the army she applied for a spot in the army band, but wasn’t chosen. She got the function of an educational instructor in the army. Eventually Keren her musical wishes came true when she joined the Etel band. A band that sings and plays Oriental music and she became the vocalist of the band.
After the military she almost gave up her musical career and joined an university to study electronic engineering. Thanks to Rachel Hochman, a teacher of voice development, she was advised and convinced to join the school of music Rimon. At this school she did well and once even won a first place award for composing and performing rock music.
After the music studies Keren Peles continued her studies in art, studied acting and went on writing plays and composing music for plays. Her work resulted in getting a good reputation as well a demanded music writer.
But Keren break through in the music scene in the year 2005. She wrote for Miri Mesika her biggest hits of her very successful album. The songs called November and To There had lots of success in the charts and the song To There was even chosen as The Song Of The Year at the popular military radio channel Galgalatz. Miri is also a childhood friend of her.
Keren soon became one of the most famous and wanted writers of the Israeli music industry and wrote for Harel Skaat the song And You. For Shiri Maimom Keren wrote the song Run Away. Both songs had success in the Israeli charts.
At this time late 2005 the beginning of 2006 Keren started gathering material for her own debut album as she felt that the time had come for her to accomplish one of her main goals and become a successful singer and fulfill the path she started at a young age of being a singer.
Her first single of her first album came out in late April 2006 the song was called Itay. A couple of months later her first album came out, which is called If This Is Life. The album turned out to be one of the best selling albums in the summer of 2006. The song which is also the title of her album called If This Is Life was written by her when she was only 17 years old.
